Installation

Air Conditioning Installation in Sydney

A system performs the way the brochure promises only when the install matches the engineering: the right capacity for the room, the outdoor unit positioned for airflow and service access, refrigerant lines sized and charged properly, and commissioning done rather than skipped. JED installs split, multi-head and ducted systems across the North Shore, the Northern Beaches and the Eastern Suburbs — sized on site, installed to the manufacturer’s specification, backed by a 10-year workmanship warranty.

What moves the price

Two quotes for “a 5 kW split” can be a thousand dollars apart and both be honest. This is what the difference usually is.

Capacity and series

A 2.5 kW bedroom unit and a 7 kW living-room unit are different machines; premium series cost more than standard ones.

Pipe run and position

A back-to-back install (indoor and outdoor unit on either side of the same wall) is the baseline. Long runs, roof-mounted condensers and brackets add labour and materials.

Electrical

Most splits run on an existing circuit; larger units and ducted systems need a dedicated circuit, and some switchboards need work first.

Roof space and zoning

Ducted pricing moves with the number of outlets and zones, the duct-run length and how easy the ceiling cavity is to work in.

Strata and heritage

Apartment installs need body-corporate approval; heritage streets restrict where the outdoor unit can go. Neither changes the equipment, both can change the position and the paperwork.

Access

Steep blocks, upper floors with no balcony and tight side passages take longer and sometimes need lifting gear.

Installation FAQs

How long does an air conditioning installation take?

A standard split system is installed within a day. Ducted systems take one to two days depending on the floor plan and the number of outlets. Multi-head systems sit in between. We confirm the timing when we quote.

What size air conditioner do I need?

It depends on the room’s floor area, ceiling height, insulation, window area and orientation — not just the square metres. We size on site from those factors and the manufacturer’s selection data, which is why we inspect before we quote.

What does an installation cost?

Daikin wall splits start from $1,650 supplied and installed for a standard back-to-back install of a smaller unit; ducted systems start from roughly $9,000 for a single-storey home. Capacity, pipe runs, electrical work, zoning and access move the price, and the quote you get is the price you pay.

Which brands do you install?

We are certified dealers for Daikin and Haier and install both to the manufacturer’s specification. That matters for the warranty: an authorised dealer is accountable to the manufacturer for how the unit was fitted.

Do I need strata approval for an apartment install?

Almost always, because the outdoor unit touches common property. We supply the unit specifications, noise data and mounting details committees ask for, so the approval does not hold the job up.

What warranty do I get?

Two: the manufacturer’s warranty on the equipment, and JED’s 10-year workmanship warranty on the installation itself. They cover different things — the second one is what pays for a poorly brazed joint or a badly set condensate run, which equipment cover never does.

How soon can you install?

We inspect first and the quote comes back within 24 hours of the visit. Installation is then booked around your dates; split systems can usually go in within the week.
